1920 C.F. Martin Ditson terz

This Ditson terz guitar was built for the Oliver Ditson Company around 1920 by CF Martin & Co.  Martin built guitars for Ditson during the late 20s and early 30s.  While I have had other CF Martin made Ditson guitars in the shop in the past, this is the first Martin/Ditson terz (very short scale, tuned up 1 1/2 step from concert pitch) that I've seen.  The guitar has a lower bout width of only 11", the body itself being only 15 1/2" in length.  In addition, this is the smallest Martin/Ditson I've seen with the 'baby dreadnought' shape. I believe it to be a style 1 (the smallest and plainest made by Martin for Ditson) and it is roughly equivalent to a standard Martin style 18 (with some minor differences).  The guitar has mahogany back and sides, red spruce top, ebony fretboard and ebony pyramid bridge, with Waverly tuners with brass plates. The guitar is 100% original and crack free, excellent overall condition.  The guitar was acquired from a seller in New York City and now resides in the museum collection of CF Martin & Co.
